A few years ago, I asked my artist brother if he could design and produce a lab t-shirt . I wanted a logo that reflected the name of the lab and captured the essence of what we do. We decided upon a tree with deep roots. The lab has a formal name – Race, Ethnicity, Migration, and Mental Health (REM-MH) and a more commonly used, informal name – FamiLee Lab. Can you spot the FamiLee name in the logo?
My colleagues and I received a DAAD scholarly exchange grant to convene a meeting with German scholars to develop a possible collaboration on the study of immigrant adaptation in Germany. This project is timely given the current Syrian refugee situation in Germany and the rest of Europe. We plan to visit Berlin in June to continue this collaboration.
My work on ethnic and racial socialization within adoptive families was recently featured featured by the University for their Driven to Discover campaign.
